What began as a humble homestead soon grew into a thriving vineyard.
In the late 1800s, when the first pioneers settled along the banks of the Orange River, our family planted its roots in the raw beauty of Kakamas, where the Kalahari Desert meets one of Africa’s lifelines.
Early generations cultivated raisins and other crops, discovering that the Kalahari heat and Orange River water created something exceptional: fruit with deep colour, natural sweetness, and a character you can taste.
As the years passed, sons joined their father on the land, carrying forward the same hands-on approach, respect for nature, and commitment to quality. Every vine planted and every harvest gathered was guided by one principle — quality above all.
Our philosophy, shaped in 1940 and upheld ever since, remains simple:

Today, we proudly stand as a third-generation family-owned farm, rooted in the same soil our ancestors once worked. Situated directly on the Orange River, our vineyards flourish in one of South Africa’s most unique microclimates, where intense desert sunshine meets cool river breezes. This balance gives our grapes, and our raisins, their signature richness and purity.
